Tour de France

I got up at 7:30 , made a pot of coffee, fried some bacon and watched the time trials. My man Cadel Evans couldn’t make up the 1:50 he needed to claim the maillot jaune, so with the great showing that Levi Leipheimer put forth, and Alberto Contador staying up by 23 seconds , he claims the yellow jersey for 2007. Tomorrow’s champagne run into Paris is the culmination of a great Tour de France; I enjoy this event more each year, and only regret backwards; I just wish we had TV coverage of this event back when Bernard Hinault was tearing up the French countryside. We only got decent TV reporting when Greg Lemond was peaking 18 years ago, but this modern daily live coverage just mesmerized me, and I had time to actually watch probably 90% of it live, and the rest on tape. What a show! The drug problems? I can’t help that, and it did little to diminish my love of this great sports event. This concludes my writing of the 2007 TDF. Congratz to Levi for his stage win today, and congratz to Alberto Contador for his seemingly certain win on the Champs Elysee tomorrow. Fin.
